"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart." ~A.A. Milne Lately, I have been feeling so grateful for the small things in my life. When Liz and I started this project, we had no idea that this small piece of the interweb would become so important to us.....and I don't think it's really about the sewing. Sure I love to sew. Love it. But what I am feeling most grateful for right about now is you. All of those that take of their time to come here and visit us ... View the Post
What’s on your sewing table?
Do you ever feel like you have a million balls juggling in the air? And while you aren't dropping any of them (YET!) they still aren't getting accomplished? Well, that's me lately with my sewing projects. But I decided that instead of wallowing in the fact that not a lot of sewing projects are getting finished, photographed and blogged...let's play the game...WHAT'S ON YOUR SEWING TABLE? Here's my answer to that. One quilt top almost completed, 1 quilting project cut but not ... View the Post
22 Easy Ways To Say Thank You…Without Even Having to Say “Thank You”
It's that time of year...the holidays...when everyone is letting others know how much they love and are thankful for them. The first list has ideas for what to say and the second list has some ideas on things to do...which means you ... View the Post
Why do you sew?
(some new fabric I bought this weekend to start a new quilt) Why do you sew? It's a question I get asked often in my personal and blog life...and one that I don't always know how to answer. I actually got asked that very thing last week and I stammered something out, but I am not sure it was the right answer. I often answer that it's my something that can't be undone everyday (which I wrote a post about HERE) but I think that there are lots of deeper reasons that I choose to sew. And ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: The Last Time
I don't usually post photographs of myself. But this is one I don't want to forget. You see, I think it documents the last time my Simon will not be too old to hold his mother's hand. Last month we went with my parents to Disneyland. (Thank you again Mom and Dad.) I love that place...I'm still 8 years old every single time I walk inside those gates and I love every second of it...anyway...while we were there Simon was dying for me to ride "Screamin'" with him. So I did. When we climbed ... View the Post
And Then He Turned 10 (An Art of Homemaking Post)
My oldest (Simon) turns 10 this week. A decade has gone by in the blink of an eye. And I don't want to blink again because when I open my eyes another decade will have passed and my baby boy will have become a man. Our children are only children for such a short amount of time....it very much makes my heart ache to think about it...how will I ever let them grow up? As Simon's birthday approached this year my husband and I did a lot of talking. We really wanted to make his birthday ... View the Post
