Mending Communities and Neighborhoods: So todays post was pretty much written by that one quote from Mr. Rogers. Outside of our homes our next sphere of influence is our neighborhoods and communities (our churches, schools, sports teams, clubs, groups, etc.) what do our interactions look like in those arenas? Are we courteous, patience, kind, empathetic? But wait you say...so and so is a total jerk! I'm sure she is. We all know, and interact with jerks and it is HARD to be ... View the Post
Mending Home and Family: The Sharing Post
Hello. This is the sharing post for Week Two: Mending Home and Family. What does that mean? That means if you choose to participate in this challenge (any time during the month of July) you can come back to this post and share what you did to help mend your home and family. Simply leave a comment and share. That’s it. Easy. I actually chose my "mending project" for this week at the beginning of June...and we have been doing it ever since. Soul Mending Summer Reads
Soul Mending Summer Reads I love books. Fiction, non-fiction, young adult, mystery, adventure, classics, whatever. I've already read (listened to) almost 30 books so far this year. From heart wrenching stories like "Behind the Beautiful Forevers" to team-work and leadership books like "Creativity Inc" to popular ... View the Post
Just for Fun Quilt Pattern
Just for Fun Quilt Pattern At the end of December/beginning of January I felt a little overloaded with obligations. We had a fun but busy holiday season. I was also involved in a lot of different side projects plus our entire family got the flu, our dog died and...well....things got a little bit hectic. My schedule was full. My living space was full. My mind was ... View the Post
The Soul Mending Society: Week 1 Mend Yourself
Welcome to the first week of The Soul Mending Society's first annual meeting! This being our first year we don't have the agenda and details down to a science...but we hope you will join us as we work through starting to mend a few things in our sphere of influence....starting with ourselves. Mend Yourself: I've started this post approximately 8.6 million times. There is so much that I want to say...but the more I type the more I don't know if the message I want to share is coming ... The Soul Mending Society
In May of 2012 Elizabeth and I announced a project that would become an annual tradition on our blog...Skirting the Issue. Since that time we have spent the entire month of each and every July sewing up skirts for girls in foster care to receive just in time for back to school. Over the years we have included other items and projects...bereavement gowns, pillowcases, and quilts to donate to various causes. However, just over a year ago we started working on a plan and setting things in ... View the Post
