A few weeks ago, liZ and I had the opportunity to attend Fabric Fest, a sewing conference that was put on by Riley Blake Designs in Las Vegas. It was a wonderful mid-week conference of sewing, food, and new friends and we really had the best time. We met people from all over the world (hello new Aussie friends!) and we laughed more than we have laughed in a long time. As part of Fabric Fest we taught a pattern-drafting class for drafting a children's bodice and then did a panel discussion ... View the Post
The Halloween comin’ around and Halloween pasts…..
So, the talk of Halloween costumes has begun around these here parts. And I have one child who has requirements for a costume.Requirements? Yep. Requirements. The requirements are that (1) the costume has to be old, (2) something "nobody else at my school will be" and it has to be (3) something "funny or pretty." (I don't know where she gets all these things from--couldn't be her mom could it?)So, while riding home from Fabric Fest we started brainstorming costumes that would fit the ... View the Post

Climb Every Mountain (or aquaclimb as it be)…
photo sourceWhile we were home this summer, we have enjoyed our community pool. It is great for kids--there are two water slides (one slow, one fast), diving boards, a baby pool and plenty of space for millions of kids to spread out. It also has two of these aqua climbing-walls near the deep end. Last year, try as she might, Hannie couldn't quite conquer it. She was only 6 and her arms and legs were not quite strong enough to get herself all the way to the tippy top. It’s all she's talked about ... View the Post
Mitered Corner Burp Cloth Tutorial
Hello! A little while back we were given the opportunity to make a few items for Birch Fabrics to use at Quilt Market. It was our first experience with their organic knits....and we LOVED them! We chose two pieces from their "Just For Fun" line and after receiving them I decided that I wanted to make something for a baby boy with that soft buttery fabric. So I put together this little set: A matching blanket, bib, and burp cloth. (It so made me wish I had a little guy to snuggle in ... View the Post
