If You Want to Rise (A Soul Mending Society Post)

If you want to rise... It has been awhile since I've written a Soul Mending Society post and figured it was about time. Especially since this is something that has been on my mind: For more than a year now I have been teaching some Community Education courses on bread making. I love bread...I love eating it, making it, smelling it, talking about it, and teaching others how to make it. Plus because of the pandemic I've been able to teach all the courses over zoom from my own ... View the Post

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies are my absolute favorite! They have the right amount of texture and I could eat a whole dozen myself. And since I have been trying to add a few more healthy things into my cookies I decided to see if I could come up with a recipe that uses some whole wheat flour and still maintains the softness I love about oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Slip Sliding Away Quilt in Modern Farmhouse

Slip Sliding Away Quilt in Modern Farmhouse Today I get to share a quilt I stitched up last fall...but just finally got around to binding. This was a fun quilt to sew up. I used our Slip Sliding Away PDF Quilt Pattern (that you can read all about HERE or purchase HERE in our shop).... ....and for the fabric I used a scrap of green that I have been hanging onto for years, some Rose Gold Swiss Dot, one of the floral prints from "Modern Farmhouse" (a sweet line that we ... Home is Where the Heart is Quilt Pattern

I think the last year has taught many of us the important lesson that our homes really are that important. I mean I knew that before....but spending so much time at "home" this last year has been good for me to realize again and again how much of a sanctuary it can be. No, it's not always clean...in fact most days it's not. The laundry is never, ever done. But it's the feeling and the people that are there that are important. And I wanted to make a quilt to commemorate how much "staying ... View the Post

Peaches and Cream PDF Quilt Pattern

Peaches and Cream PDF Quilt Pattern The Peaches and Cream PDF Quilt Pattern was began as a tutorial back in December of 2016...and quickly became one of our most popular posts...and one of my favorite quilt patterns! In May of 2018 we released it as one of our first PDF quilt patterns. From there we have been able to share and teach it at different quilting conferences, classes, and groups...and it is always a winner. There are so many great things that make this particular ... What is Star Anise?

What is Star Anise? Star Anise is the fruit of a small, Chinese evergreen tree called Illicium Verum. Its name comes from the star shaped fruit, harvested when green, and then dried. Each dried fruit is about the size of a quarter, has 6 to 10 points, and holds a seed within each of those points. NOTE: Star Anise is NOT the same thing as Aniseed. Star Anise has a distinct licorice scent and flavor. It can be used whole or in a powder. However, when used whole it is only for ... View the Post
