Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds Costume Tutorial

If you need a quick last minute costume this is the perfect one to make! I like funny and old vintage Halloween costumes.  Last year, this sassy seven-year-old was Audrey Hepburn and this year....well,  she hasn't yet decided on what her glorious costume will be.   So, I got to take some liberties and made up a costume that I liked.  (And we shall see what she actually chooses for the big day ;)  I love this costume because it is a total throwback to the costumes of my childhood. ... Speaking of Appearances….

I got new glasses. Bet you didn't even know that I needed some. But, I did. I hadn't gotten a new pair of glasses for I'm guessing about 3 years now.  I wear contacts and because they are so expensive I just purchase those and don't buy glasses as well.  I just keeping using my old pair and only wear them at night when I'm in bed reading (or am up eating chips and watching Project Runway). However, my old glasses suffered a tragic accident in the spring when Grace was trying them on Ruth and they ... The Art of Homemaking: I’ve been keeping a secret

Ok...I've been keeping a secret...I started through "The Art of Homemaking" book...again...without you.I'm sorry. There has been so much going on around here, too many things to post and I really needed to get back to the book.  I'd been falling back into old habits and needed to start over again. So I did. I started with "FACET NO. 1 THE TWO A's"(which are attitude and appearance) In her section on attitude Daryl Hoole says your attitude will improve if you "are at your physical best at all ... Lookbook: The Audrey Pants

One of the projects I did for Project Run and Play last year was a pair of "Audrey Hepburn" pants to go with this outfit.  It was the most-worn pair of pants in Hannie's drawer, so the one thing I knew that had to be in the collection were another pair. These are made out of stretch denim (the same as the pencil skirt) that I got at FIDM in LA.  They are basically a straight-legged pant with a waistband and side seam zipper.  Last year's version I traced from a pair of leggings.  This year ... Lookbook: A Holiday Dress

I was in love with the this fabric the moment I saw on the clearance table.  ( I almost felt like it was a splurge at $8 dollars a yard after all my super cheap finds.)  It is a lilac suiting fabric, but it has a bit of a shine to it which is so pretty in real life.  I used almost 3 yards of it for the dress. The bodice was drafted with a ballet neckline and front and back darts and elbow-length sleeves.  I did line the bodice, but looking back it probably didn't need to be (which would have cut ... Halloween

I interrupt this regularly scheduled program….

to announce that my children have chosen COSTUMES!!!!!  (Good news for me.) I gave them the deadline of Monday to choose and then quickly got to work.  I have two costumes down (I have been up until all hours of the morning) and one more to go.  And the best part of the deal....all of them were made for $15 each or less!  (I love budget costumes.) Aaron decided on the red Ninjago figure (I forget his name, Kai, Cole?  One of the two....). (I found this awesome cookie rendition from HERE, ... View the Post
