Thrifted Thursday– A New Sewing Chair

Liz and I have been sewing our little hearts out this week for Project Run & Play....you'll see tomorrow :)But, I did finish one project for my house last week.  A new sewing chair.  The chair was free from my parents' garage and for $7 in spray paint and $7 in fabric I have a new sewing chair.I need to go see what else is in their garage.....(although I think most of my house is painted and from their garage....that's the beauty of their garage.  It's like a neverending wealth of stuff.)Any fun ... Project Run and Play– Feather Tutu Tutorial

This feather tutu was a fun project.  I will warn you that there is some handstitching involved....but I found that it holds better and the results make it well worth the hour or so to get it done. (Learn from me.  My original plan was to tack in on by machine every couple of inches....but it sagged in a lot of spots....so I ended up handstitching it on anyway.) Here's what you will need to make one yourself. * White muslin-or any other broadcloth or cotton that you want to use for the ... View the Post

Chrysanthemum Flower Sash Tutorial

Today is the tutorial for the chrysanthemum flowers that I made for the girls.  They are easy, but do take a bit of time since you are handsewing them...so be prepared to put in a good movie...and handstitch away. You will need: 1-2 yards of man made fabric (I used a shimmery lining fabric for these ones) scissors a candle or lighter Step 1 Cut out your petal shapes.  I just folded the fabric and cut about 8 or 10 at a time.  I tried a couple of different shapes but ended up with the ... Tea Dying Old Onesies

Baby Ruth is our 3rd child and the poor girl is destined to wear more than her fair share of hand-me-downs. Like this pile of onesies...already worn by one brother and one sister...not as bright as they used to be...and even a little stained... But instead of making her wear them all dingy and sad I wanted to make them over into something I would actually want to put Ruth in. Finally I decided that the best solution would be dye. And I set about to revive an old love of mine----the tea ... View the Post

Project Run and Play– “Girls of a Feather Dresses”

This week's challenge was to do a pattern remix of Lil Blue Boo's Sienna Dress.  And here is what we made....The inspiration for these "Girls of a Feather" dresses was a late-night phone collaboration that went something like this:"What are we going to do to make the pattern different?""Let's do something more formal....because the pattern is pretty casual""I think we should do all white dresses....I love white on little girls""White........WITH FEATHERS!" And so it began.  Since there are two ...
