As I have mentioned before, we have been watching The Brady Bunch on PBS in the early evenings mostly to clam (or calm) the crazies while I make dinner. And I have been obsessed with Cindy Brady's dresses. Well, the pattern that I chose was just that. A 60's throwback.I did change it up a bit. I wanted bell sleeves like view A, but when I got them sewn on they didn't look so good, so I put 1/4 inch elastic in the bottom which worked perfectly. Also, there was supposed to be a zipper in the ... View the Post

$5 Friday…A $1.50 gift from the grandkids!
So, I'm an idiot and forgot to take a picture of one of these calendars when it was completed but here are some works in progress. We made these in my preschool class this morning. They are Christmas gifts for parents (but I'm going to have my kids make them for their grandparents). They are made from a half sheet of poster board, a Dollar store 2011 planner hot glued to the bottom corner and a bit of art work hot glued to the other corner. Then for my preschool kids I attached a quote and some ... View the Post
I ended up resorting to a hot glue gun….
but I finished the collar on Hannah's dress. Next time, can someone please remind me about how long it would actually take to handsew on over 100 little bunchy-flower-thingies? A long.....long time. So, thus the hot glue gun. (And you can't even tell.)I actually made the collar detachable from the dress because it dawned on me that if I wash it....I will have a frayed mess of a collar. So I cut another piece of interfacing...sewed, sewed, and sewed some more and then broke out the hot glue ... View the Post
If You Need a Good Laugh
I've just been laughing so hard I woke up my kids. I am tired but instead of going to bed like a normal person I'm out googling random stuff which tonight, led me to this little gem: http://www.craftfail.com/ I can't stop laughing. And I can't decide which failed crafting attempt is my favorite...the 3-D fabric star for Charlie Brown's Christmas tree, the woman who tole painted and bedazzled her tennis shoes, the sad case of the cupcake liner garland or the "hairless Chewbacca pancake". Some ... View the Post
Some ruffled leggings.
I think they turned out cute....I just need to make a mental note that if you want them longer that you have to cut them WAYYYYYY longer. I cut these about 3 inches longer than some current ones, but the knit tends to shrink up. Next time I will cut them 6-8 inches longer. I followed No Big Dill's tutorial except for the elastic part. I didn't have any wide elastic so I just pulled and zig zagged some 1/4 inch elastic into the top ruffle on the back of the fabric. Does that make sense?I ... View the Post
Heaven Help Me…I’ve Failed Again.
For the last two weeks my assignment was to work on Chapter 4 from "The Art of Homemaking" which is entitled "A Place for Everything---Everything in it's Place". However, if you entered my home you would have thought the chapter was "Too Much of Everything---Nothing in it's Place".Literally.If you popped over to my house this afternoon you would find, among other things that aren't in their place, a chair from the van in my front room, the Christmas tree standing in front of a Halloween garland ...
